Central Bank of India was founded on 21st December 1911 by Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala a visionary. It was his dream of setting up a ‘Swadeshi bank’ owned by Indians and for Indians. On founding the Bank, Sir Sorabji proclaimed with pride that Central Bank was property of the Nation and the country’s asset. After the independence, the bank played a laudable role in the growth and development of country and improving the socio-economic status of people. Central Bank of India is celebrating its centenary year during December 2010. [Courtesy: India Post]
